Family Nurse Practitioner
Hello, my name is Paul Garraty, and I have been a nurse for 25 years.
I am married and have spent most of my life in New Orleans, Louisiana. It was there that I attended the Charity School of Nursing, graduating in 1994. I worked as an emergency room nurse at Charity Hospital until being evacuated six days post-Hurricane Katrina in 2005.
We lost our home to the storm and moved to central Louisiana, wherein 2012, I graduated as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Grambling University. Afterward, we migrated to Colorado’s western slope, where I worked at West Springs Psychiatric Hospital for seven years.
It was there I found understanding and gained empathy for others who have also experienced trauma. It inspired me to return to school, where I became certified in psychiatry. As a dual certified nurse practitioner, I understand that integrative health requires a healthy body and a mind, equally sound. I hope to provide not only a path for good health but also an ear to listen.
I am passionate about providing patient-centered care. My goal is to be “authentically present” with every patient. I need to meet you where you are and engage you in your care plan. I believe in treating the whole patient.
If your condition requires treatment beyond the scope of family practice, I will help you navigate the world of specialty care.
