Family Nurse Practitioner
Hello, I am Katrina De Romana, and I have been a nurse for 27 years. I have four children, and my husband is the office manager. I am from central Illinois and attended Illinois Wesleyan University for my bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
I have a large family in Illinois, and we visit there often. I moved to Pueblo, Colorado, in 1991, where I worked in Level 1 trauma center ER as a lead clinic nurse and nurse educator for many years. My family and I moved to Castle Rock in 2004, and I worked at the University Hospital in the Surgical ICU while pursuing my nurse practitioner degree. In 2007, I graduated from the University of Colorado-Anschutz with my Family Nurse Practitioner post-Master’s certificate.
Since then, I have worked in several settings providing primary care for patients of all ages. As a nurse in the ER and ICU settings, I saw terrible chronic illnesses that were not appropriately controlled, and people who were desperate for good primary care. I became a Nurse Practitioner so that I could help prevent the consequences of chronic disease and help folks stay OUT of the ER and ICU’s as much as possible.
My patients find that I am a listener, teacher, promoter of good health and preventive care services, and as an Advanced Practice Nurse, I can diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses commonly seen in a family practice setting. I will advocate for you with other healthcare providers when needed and refer to specialists when appropriate.
