Tamara McNay MEd, LPCAdult and Child Therapist
Hello! My name is Tamara McNay. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, a Play Therapist, and an EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) Therapist. I have been providing therapy in the field of trauma and domestic violence for over 15 years to children, adolescents and adults. I have worked with individuals of all ages struggling with depression, anxiety, trauma, and issues related to family conflict. For the three years prior to joining Heartlight Family Clinic, I served as the Clinical Director for a community mental health center. My aim is to understand your goal and vision for therapy, and to work collaboratively with you and your medical providers as a team to support you in achieving those goals. I believe that therapy works best when there is trust and a positive therapeutic relationship and when you feel that we are on the same page. I come from a strength-based perspective; my belief is that we are all generally doing the best we can, but sometimes, through therapy, we can find more effective ways to get to where we want to be.
Amanda Turecek LMFT, LACAdult Therapist, Addiction Counsellor
Hi, I am Amanda Turecek and I offer a strengths-based and collaborative approach to counseling, specializing in anxiety, addictions, depression and trauma. Within an integrated framework I partner with you and your medical providers in order to help you move towards your behavioral health goals. In addition to providing a supportive, nonjudgmental space for you to talk, I often blend evidence-based treatments including cognitive behavioral (CBT) strategies and eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) to help you reach your goals. Often this combination creates movement in areas you feel stuck by empowering you with concrete tools and strategies to use in daily life while stimulating healing from trauma and addictions. I am a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and Licensed Addictions Counselor (LAC) and have experience in community mental health centers, behavioral health hospitals, substance use disorder programs, and private practice. When I am not seeing clients, I enjoy spending time with my large blended family and exploring outdoor Colorado!
Marissa Smith MA, LPC, NCCAdult Therapist
I enjoy spending my time at home with my partner and our young daughter. I have worked mostly in the field of addiction, including eating disorders. I also work with adults with other struggles, including mood, anxiety, identity, grief, and relationships.
Emily Ringle, LPC, LMFTChild Therapist
Hello! My name is Emily Ringle. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I obtained my BS in Genetics from Iowa State University and my MA in Couple and Family Counseling from University of Colorado Denver. In my spare time, I like to go to the gym, go on walks, watch sitcoms such as The Golden Girls and Frasier, as well as read, play pool, and bowl. For the entirety of my career, I have worked primarily with children and adolescents ages 5-19 and their parents, with the majority of my experience being children under the age of 14. In particular, I enjoy working with trauma, anxiety, oppositional or defiant children, and of course, children who have difficulty with social skills. I work from a combination of narrative therapy and reality therapy. When appropriate, I do use Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) to aid in this approach, as well as other tools such as play therapy, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT). Additionally, since my background is in family therapy, I like to incorporate family therapy as much as possible when working with children.
