Psychiatric and Family Nurse Practitioner
Hello, my name is Tina Kauderer (pronounced Cowder), and I’m so excited to be here! I began my nursing career in 1998 with an Associate Degree in Nursing from Louisiana State University of Alexandria.
My husband was military, so we moved around some and had the opportunity to explore many of the United States’ wonders. We also were able to live in Japan for several years and take in their culture. As you might imagine, our Veterans hold a special place in my heart.
My education process has taken me back to school several times as I felt the need to know more. To provide better care to my patients, I earned my Masters and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) from Malone University in Canton, Ohio, and my Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) from Maryville University, St Louis, Missouri.
When I finally found myself with an empty nest, I moved to Colorado to pursue sunshine and outdoor activities. Personal observation of the difference in the quality of life when mental health issues are adequately treated. Or not, is what prompted my passion for working in mental health. I believe that health, both mental and physical, is a continuum. Life can get bumpy, and everyone needs a little help at some point in life. I chose to practice at Heartlight Family Clinic, here in Castle Rock, Colorado, because the integrated format aligns well with my holistic care and open communication views, which results in optimal patient care. I am diligently working to lessen the stigma attached to mental healthcare. My office is ALWAYS a no-judgment zone; my patients and I explore and treat issues like a team with open communication and mutual respect.
An atmosphere of acceptance of each others’ imperfections and celebration of those things that make us unique allows us to create a mutually acceptable plan-of-care along our journey towards feeling better. I look forward to meeting you!
